If you follow me on instagram you will have seen a bit of my most recent trip to Europe.
Although I had a few personal reasons, (my baby sister had an actual baby eeekk, cuteness overload) the trip was 50% related to my work as a health coach.
Attending the UK Health Coaches Conference in London was a highlight of my trip.
Not only did I meet the amazing and brave women of the UK Health Coaches Association who are single handedly spearheading lifestyle health in the UK but I met the amazing #1 best-selling author, podcaster and TV presenter Dr Rangan Chatterjee.
Whilst not wildly known in Australia, (at least not yet), Dr C is famed as a bit of a pioneer in the UK for lifestyle medicine.
Like myself, Dr Chatterjee gives due credit to our body’s own way of repairing and healing itself.
ALSO like myself Dr Chatterjee believes that good health is much more than what you eat and how you move.
It is with this in mind that I constantly encourage you to experiment with your health and wellbeing, to listen to your body and trust your gut and intuition when something feels as thought it is just not quite right and question it.
Don’t discount the "off" feeling you may be having or the fact that your regular morning smoothie makes you feel sick even though you are told it is good for you.
Every one and every body is different. Listen to your body and discover its triggers and see how you can reduce them so they are not so problematic.
Remember what works for your best friend very well may not work for you, but you have to do the work and LISTEN to your body.
Right now it may sound like just another job to put on the endless to do list of self love, but when I tell you, that is simpler than you think, I am being honest. You just need to start and once you begin to hear the alarm bells telling you what your body likes and doesn’t like, the bells will only get louder and louder and you will become so intune with your body's signals you will become familiar what to do or who to ask for help.
Start paying attention to how you feel at certain times of the day, after certain foods, activities or when you around that toxic colleague at work and start to identify how you can make life a little more comfortable for yourself by removing or reducing them from your life (work colleague included).
Check in on yourself regularly every day. How am I feeling? Why am I feeling like that? Did I eat something, see something or change my environment. If you think something is not right, look deeper and if you cant find the answer go to your doctor or other health professional.
All you need to do is get curious about you, just get curious about the beautiful being that is you.
